Vendor access

This part is for Aigna staff

Vendors see their own installation and the device reference they need to build it: device types, setup guides and models. Everything else stays with Aigna.

0 of 10 match the UniFi standard · none short of what they serve

UniFi standardCabinet A and Cabinet B, each with Shelf 1 to 3, a bottom shelf and a drawer. For an office that holds its spares for one floor. How new and refreshed comms rooms are built. There is no standard rack: each comms room is sized for the spaces it serves (how), and older network kit is replaced in the network refresh.

How a comms room is sized

From the spaces it serves to the rack that holds it. House rules where public standards leave the figure to the designer; unknowns stay unknown.

  1. 1Data outletsOne per data outlet in every space served, from the space type's outlets; a repeated space (desks) counts each desk. The space types
  2. 2Headroom20 percent spare access ports above the outlets, rounded up, so a floor can add spaces without a new switch.House rule. Structured cabling guides plan for spare capacity; TIA-568 sets no figure.
  3. 3Access switchesPorts with headroom divided by the ports on the standard access switch, rounded up.The standard's access switch
  4. 4Patch panelsOne 48-port panel per 48 outlets, rounded up, each with a cable manager.House rule (Panduit 48-port panels, 2U)
  5. 5PoE budgetThe sum of what each PoE-powered device draws, as its vendor states (its PoE class where there is no figure). Devices with no figure are counted, not guessed. The device models
  6. 6Rack spaceThe units the parts take, plus 25 percent free for growth, rounded up to the next rack size (12U, 24U or 42U).House rule
  7. 7UPSNot sized yet: the load and runtime are not recorded. The UPS in the standard is stated per rack.Monitoring, when connected

Each comms room page shows its own figures against what is installed: how they compare.

How the comms rooms compare

0 of 10 spaces on the UniFi standard · 0 short of what they serve

Ports and rack are what the room has against what the rooms it serves need (the sizing method above). A comms room is on the standard when every switch, gateway and controller in its rack is UniFi; the AV switch stays Netgear AV Line (tested for Dante and Q-SYS). Point at a space to see its older kit.
