ISO 41001 and ISO 55001

Requirements for a facility management system (ISO 41001) and an asset management system (ISO 55001).

How Keia relates
Companion to ISO 55001: for technology assets; ISO 41001 is out of scope
Which version
ISO 41001:2018, with Amendment 1:2024 (climate action changes); ISO lists a revision under way. ISO 55001:2024, with its vocabulary in ISO 55000:2024. Both are management system standards: they ask for a whole system, of which a record is one part.

How the ideas map

Brief: these touch Keia at the edges.

Keia ideaISO 41001 and ISO 55001What Keia adds
Start from the buildingISO 55001: knowing what assets you hold and where. ISO 41001: the facility the technology lives inEvery unit sits in a space on a floor plan. Space data is exchanged with facilities systems, never owned by Keia
Capture, don't askISO 55001: asset information kept currentPurchase date, expected life, power draw and disposal route per device, updated by the work
Answer firstISO 55001: performance of assets over their lifeThe work plan shows the devices due for refresh under the policy, and whether each is in a project
Own it, hand it onISO 41001: the facility services around the technologyVendors and partners work as peers, with contracts, end dates and access scoped to the job

Use your normal process here

  • Leases, space planning, moves and soft services such as cleaning and catering: ISO 41001's ground, and another profession's record
  • Heating, ventilation and building control
  • Asset management policy and strategy, and the financial value of assets
  • Laptops and phones: outside Keia's scope
